Doctoral Scholarship at University of Bonn in Germany, 2013

The Center for Development Research, University of Bonn Department Ecology and Natural Resources Management is offering scholarship to pursue PhD programme. African candidates are highly encouraged to apply for this PhD scholarship. Duration of PhD scholarship is three years which covers living, research as well as travel cost. Application must be send by September, 30, 2013.

Eligibility:- Very good degree (Diploma, Master) in environmental sciences (preferably with focus on agronomy, environmental economics or bio energy)
- excellent writing skills in English are required for the dissertation
- very good knowledge of French is required for research in a francophone country
- good knowledge in environmental modelling and impact assessment
- experience in interdisciplinary research
- work experience in Africa. African candidates are highly encouraged to apply.
Scholarship Open for Students of Following Countries: African applicants are eligible for this PhD scholarship.
Scholarship Description: The PhD thesis will be done in the context of the project Biomass Web. The candidate is therefore expected to especially consider multiple and interdisciplinary interfaces with other research teams in the project. Also interfaces to the project WASCAL will have to be considered. Case study regions will be Burkina Faso, Ethiopia and Ghana. For information assessment and data collection, 12 months of field research will be required. These can be split. The candidate is expected to develop an individual research proposal until April, 2014. The candidate will also be expected to participate in the interdisciplinary and disciplinary courses in the ZEF Doctoral Studies Program from January & February 2014 and October, December, 2014. During the writing & up period of the dissertation, the candidate will be based at ZEF in Bonn.
